Mathematics and software have always been my passion, and I became interested in the financial markets at an early age. These interests have profoundly guided the trajectory of my education and career. |
Education |
Earned BS and master's degrees in the College of Engineering at Cornell University; both with Honors. Customized my undergraduate curriculum to focus on Applied Mathematics and Computer Science; with graduate level theoretical studies across the engineering disciplines. Went on to earn my Master of Electrical Engineering; with multivariate feedback control system software as my master's project. |
Engineering Achievements |
The first part of my career focused on research, design, development, and problem solving across a diversity of engineering requirements and new technologies. There was significant corporate interest to protect innovation during these years. Certainly I am proud of the patents that I was awarded in this period. My finest engineering moment was when I rapidly developed a test vector generator compiler in Pascal to support project critical ASIC simulation testing. |
Alert Technologies |
Breaking out of a traditional engineering role, I started this company to provide individualized alert services by monitoring tick data from financial (stocks, options, bonds, commodities), sports, and traffic data sources relative to personalized client requirements. The real-time system developed for this involved an integration of engineering and information technologies based on Delphi and SQL development. The company successfully reached more than 1,000 active subscribers, but this did not generate enough revenues to overcome operational and on-going promotional expenses. This episode was a turning point in my career, after which my focus became information technology development in the financial industry as a programmer analyst. |
Information Technology Achievements |
My efforts in the financial industry have involved the development of payment and CRM systems on a number of different database systems. Often with project management responsibilities, translated business needs into production requirements, developed the database model and applications to meet those requirements, and provided on-going systems support. Have written easily over 500,000 lines of code in this period (mostly TSQL), forming the basis of numerous SQL, Delphi, and DBA achievements in a replicated 24x7 SQL Server database environment. Developed a plethora of scalable and highly testable stored procedures, functions, and triggers to construct production, reporting, migration, and system maintenance applications. Identified and implemented evolving requirements for production processing, CSR/Client data access, multitier web services, and test. |
